HEIC to JPG converter
Convert HEIC images to JPG in your browser — re-encoded once at the quality you choose, transparent areas filled with white. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.
Part of image tools and design tools.
Reads PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF. Writes PNG, JPEG, WebP, ICO — ICO with every icon size up to 256 px. HEIC and TIFF decoders load only when you pick such a file.
What happens to quality
Both formats are lossy, so this is a second round of compression: the JPG is encoded from pixels the HEIC has already simplified. At 85% quality or more the extra loss is hard to see; lower than that, artefacts from both encoders stack up. Convert from the best original you have rather than from a copy that has already been through this once. JPG — labelled JPEG in the converter, the same format — is what every device, email client, print shop and upload form accepts, which is the main reason to choose it today.
What happens to transparency
JPG has no alpha channel, so it cannot store “nothing here”. Transparent areas of the HEIC are filled with white before encoding — predictable, and what most uses want; the other common default, black, is what makes converted logos come back looking broken. If the transparency matters, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
iPhone photos, Live Photos and bursts
Most browsers outside Safari cannot open HEIC, so this page loads an HEIC decoder (libheif, compiled to WebAssembly) the first time you pick one — it runs in the tab like the rest, and nothing is sent anywhere. An HEIC can hold several images: the stills of a Live Photo, a burst, a depth map. The converter keeps the main image, the one your camera roll shows, and tells you when there were others. The rotation the phone recorded is applied, so a portrait shot comes out upright.
Your HEIC never leaves this page
Most online HEIC to JPG converters upload the file to a server and send the result back. This one decodes and re-encodes it with the image APIs built into your browser, so the JPG you download was produced on your own machine — you can check by opening the network tab, or by going offline and converting anyway.
