WebP to JPG converter

Convert WebP images to JPG in your browser — re-encoded once at the quality you choose, transparent areas filled with white. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.

Part of image tools and design tools.

What happens to quality

Both formats are lossy, so this is a second round of compression: the JPG is encoded from pixels the WebP has already simplified. At 85% quality or more the extra loss is hard to see; lower than that, artefacts from both encoders stack up. Convert from the best original you have rather than from a copy that has already been through this once. JPG — labelled JPEG in the converter, the same format — is what every device, email client, print shop and upload form accepts, which is the main reason to choose it today.

What happens to transparency

JPG has no alpha channel, so it cannot store “nothing here”. Transparent areas of the WebP are filled with white before encoding — predictable, and what most uses want; the other common default, black, is what makes converted logos come back looking broken. If the transparency matters, keep the WebP or convert to PNG instead.

Animated WebP files

An animated WebP is converted as a single still. The conversion goes through a canvas, which holds one picture, so the JPG you download is the first frame only. For a still image that is exactly what you want; for an animation, this is the wrong tool.

Your WebP never leaves this page

Most online WebP to JPG converters upload the file to a server and send the result back. This one decodes and re-encodes it with the image APIs built into your browser, so the JPG you download was produced on your own machine — you can check by opening the network tab, or by going offline and converting anyway.
