PNG to JPG converter
Convert PNG images to JPG in your browser — a much smaller file, with a slider for how much detail to trade, transparent areas filled with white. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.
Part of image tools and design tools.
What happens to quality
PNG stores every pixel exactly; JPG is lossy — it discards the detail the eye is least likely to miss, which is where the size saving comes from. On photographs the result is typically several times smaller and looks the same at around 80% quality. On screenshots, text and flat graphics the loss shows first, as haloes around sharp edges, so compare before you replace the original. JPG — labelled JPEG in the converter, the same format — is what every device, email client, print shop and upload form accepts, which is the main reason to choose it today.
What happens to transparency
JPG has no alpha channel, so it cannot store “nothing here”. Transparent areas of the PNG are filled with white before encoding — predictable, and what most uses want; the other common default, black, is what makes converted logos come back looking broken. If the transparency matters, keep the PNG or convert to WebP instead.
Your PNG never leaves this page
Most online PNG to JPG converters upload the file to a server and send the result back. This one decodes and re-encodes it with the image APIs built into your browser, so the JPG you download was produced on your own machine — you can check by opening the network tab, or by going offline and converting anyway.
