TIFF to PNG converter

Convert TIFF images to PNG in your browser — every pixel kept exactly. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.

Part of image tools and design tools.

Reads PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF. Writes PNG, JPEG, WebP, ICO — ICO with every icon size up to 256 px. HEIC and TIFF decoders load only when you pick such a file.

What happens to quality

Both formats are lossless, so the conversion is exact: every pixel of the TIFF comes out unchanged in the PNG, and there is no quality setting to get wrong. PNG is the right target for logos, icons, diagrams and screenshots of text, and for anything that will be edited and saved again.

What happens to transparency

TIFF and PNG both have an alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels come through as they are — a logo on a transparent background stays on a transparent background.

Scans, multi-page TIFFs and 16-bit files

Only Safari displays TIFF, so the converter loads a small TIFF decoder (UTIF) when you pick one, and decodes it in the tab. A TIFF can hold several pages — a scanned document often does — and the first page is the one converted; the converter says how many there were. 16-bit and CMYK files are brought down to the 8-bit RGB a screen and a canvas work in, which is invisible on a photograph but means the result is not a master copy for print.

Your TIFF never leaves this page

Most online TIFF to PNG converters upload the file to a server and send the result back. This one decodes and re-encodes it with the image APIs built into your browser, so the PNG you download was produced on your own machine — you can check by opening the network tab, or by going offline and converting anyway.
