How to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius
(°F − 32) × 5/9 = °C
Subtract 32 first, then scale — doing it the other way round is the single most common mistake here. Body temperature at 98.6 °F is 37 °C, and a 100 °F day is a hot but survivable 37.8 °C.

What a degree Fahrenheit and a degree Celsius are
Both are units of temperature, which is what makes them convertible at all: the converter above works by taking your value to a single reference unit for that family and back out again, so the figure it gives is the same one the table shows, carried to more digits. Nothing is sent anywhere to compute it — the arithmetic runs in this page, in your browser.
