EXIF Remover
See and strip the EXIF, GPS location and camera data hidden in a photo, without re-compressing it.
Part of image tools and security tools.
What a photo says about you
Every phone and camera writes EXIF data into the photos it takes: the make and model, the date and time to the second, the exposure settings β and, unless location was turned off, the GPS coordinates of where you were standing. Many sites strip it on upload, but email attachments, messaging apps sending βoriginal qualityβ, cloud share links and marketplaces often do not. This tool shows what the file carries, then hands back a copy without it.
Removed without re-compressing
For JPEG, PNG and WebP the metadata lives in separate blocks of the file β EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, text chunks β and those blocks are simply cut out. The compressed picture is copied byte for byte, so the cleaned photo is exactly as sharp as the original. The colour profile is kept, so colours do not shift. HEIC, AVIF, TIFF and GIF are cleaned by redrawing the picture instead, which carries no metadata at all.
Rotated photos stay upright
Phones often store a portrait photo sideways and rely on an EXIF tag to turn it. Strip that tag and the picture falls over. When a photo depends on it, the tool redraws it the right way up first, at 95% quality, and says so β the only case where a JPEG is re-encoded.
Your photo is cleaned on your device
Uploading a photo to a website to remove its location would hand that location to the website. Here the file is read and rewritten inside this tab and nothing is sent anywhere; disconnect from the network before picking the photo and it works the same.
